How we collect Personal Information

We collect information from Panel members during and after registration, including, without limitation, during participation in a survey and in connection with the receipt and redemption of rewards and incentives. Information may be collected in various ways, including inquiry forms, registration forms, surveys, and contests. Centico Research collects additional data included in your member profile you submit voluntarily. When you sign up for a Panel you will be asked to provide certain Personal Data and demographic information, including but not limited to your name, address, telephone numbers, email address, date of birth, racial and gender information.
In addition to the collection of Personal Data mentioned above, during and subsequent to the registration process, you may be asked to voluntarily provide or disclose Sensitive Data. “Sensitive Data” means Personal Data that discloses or reveals health and medical conditions, sexual orientation or sexual life, political opinions/views, race/ethnic origin, religious and philosophical beliefs and trade-union membership. Sensitive Data is used to target survey opportunities to you. You may refuse to answer certain questions or discontinue participation at any time.
When you join a Panel, we ask you to provide us with information such as your name, telephone number, and email address. We may use this information to send you a test email or text message, or make a test call and to confirm your identity. If you use Facebook to sign up, Facebook may share some of the information that you have provided to them with us. When you participate in surveys, you may be asked for your personal opinions, as well as demographic information, such as your age, type of job, and household composition.
We may also collect your telephone number in order to better facilitate your use of the Services. By way of example, and without any limitation, we may use your telephone number to identify you, or to send you reminders or other information, via voice or text message, about Surveys you have participated in, or about future Survey or other opportunities. We will not use your telephone number for sales or marketing purposes. By giving us your telephone number, you expressly consent to receive a phone call or a text message from us.
We may also collect certain information automatically, such as information about:

  • your device or computer and its capabilities, including, but not limited to, the operating system, IP address, device carrier, device type, time zone, network status, browser type, browser identifier, location and other information that alone or in combination may be used to uniquely identify your device or computer; and

  • your activities in connection with Centico Research Services, including, without limitation, survey data and responses, and reward, incentive, and/or sweepstakes information. We also collect information about you through the Centico Research Panel Application including clicks, user actions and interactions, metadata, change states, and other actions through the CR panel app.

Specific examples of this information, and the technology that collects it, are below:
Cookies: Cookies are small information packets sent by web servers to web browsers, and stored by the web browsers. The information is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server, which enables a web server to identify and track web browsers. There are two main kinds of cookies: session cookies and persistent cookies. Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device or computer indefinitely until deleted. We may use session and persistent cookies for several purposes including, without limitation, to provide a better survey experience, quality control, validation, to enable or facilitate survey participation, tracking of completed surveys or other completed actions, and for fraud detection and/or prevention. Cookies help us recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information that you previously shared with us, such as your setting preferences. In order to use Centico Research, you must have cookies enabled on your browser.
We may obtain personal and demographic information from third parties, including, but not limited to, information services bureaus. We may use the personal and demographic information for various purposes, including, without limitation, data validation, data append and fraud detection purposes.

How we use personal information

In addition to other purposes set forth in this Privacy Policy, we use information collected through Centico Research Services as follows:

  • to communicate with you regarding your membership with a Panel;

  • to communicate with you regarding your participation in a survey(s);

  • to tailor survey opportunities to you;

  • to send you notifications of survey opportunities;

  • to comply with any and all legal obligations, including, without limitation, tax obligations;

  • to administer and manage our reward and incentive programs and fulfill your requests for rewards and incentives;

  • to facilitate your entry into sweepstakes and promotions and communicate with you regarding such entries

  • to update our records;

  • to comply with any data suppression obligations or requirements;

  • for identity verification and fraud detection and/or prevention purposes; and

  • as otherwise permitted under to this Privacy Policy or as otherwise authorized by you.

Furthermore, when you use the Centico Research Panel Application, we collect information to identify you as a user of our Services. The Centico Research Panel Application collects information on your online activity, such as visiting websites and using other panel applications, and analyzes your information to build an individual profile to help us build and improve our Services.

How we disclose or transfer personal information

We may disclose personal information and other information collected to third parties as follows:
1. With your consent, other than your consent to the processing and sharing described in this Privacy Policy and specifically this section.
2. Under applicable law or in response to a subpoena or an order of a court or government agency.
3. To establish, exercise, or defend legal claims of an individual or Centico Research.
4. To establish or exercise our legal rights.
5. If we believe disclosure is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activity, suspected fraud or other wrongdoing.
6. To protect and defend the rights, property, or safety of our company, our employees, our users, or others; or to enforce Panel terms of use or other agreements or policies.
7. In connection with a corporate change such as a merger, our acquisition by another company, or a partial or total sale of our assets.
8. To authorized agents and/or vendors and subcontractors and clients, partners, who are providing services, including, without limitation, data append services, data validation services, fraud detection and/or prevention services, database-matching services, coding services, data segmentation services, and reward, and incentive related services, as well as market research partners that provide surveys.
9. Your information may be shared with third parties in aggregate form. Aggregated data does not include personally identifiable information. This means that your survey responses may be combined with the responses of others who participate in surveys and those gathered responses are reported to the third party that commissioned the study.
10. As otherwise permitted under this Privacy Policy.
We hold personal information in our own secure databases located inside US. All personal information is encrypted with AES 1024Bit cryptography to prevent unauthorized access to personal information.
If you do not provide us with the personal information we request or require, we may not be able to provide our services to you or may not be able to do so to the same standards.
As per Indian Privacy Protection Act 2019, Personal information related to users based in India is stored in datacenters located in Mumbai, India and is encrypted with same standards.

MARKET RESEARCH

We will not share your name, email address, or phone number with the Third Party MR Companies. In connection with the sharing of your information with a Third Party MR Company, your information may be transferred and stored outside of your country of residence, including, without limitation, in the United States. Your participation in such survey opportunities does not entitle you to any benefits offered by, or membership with, the Third Party MR Companies.

We may also share your personal information and/or social-demographic information, including, without limitation, a unique identification number (“UID”), postal code, gender, marital status, education, ethnicity/race (where permitted by applicable law), employment related information, and non-personally identifiable information on household members, with third party sample/market research companies (individually each a “Third Party MR Company” and collectively the “Third Party MR Companies”) for the purpose of identifying survey opportunities that you may be eligible for through the Third Party MR Companies. If you are eligible for a survey opportunity, the Third Party MR Company will provide your unique identification number and a survey link to us and we will invite you to participate in the survey.

SHARING

Though we make every effort to preserve your privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law, where we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a judicial proceeding or administrative legal, a criminal investigation, a court order, or legal process served on our Web site. We may also share your personal information if we believe it is necessary in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of Centico Research surveys , or as otherwise required by law.

SUPPORT AND CONTACT

If you contact Centico Research surveys, we may keep a record of that correspondence and we may collect your email address for archival purposes but will not use, transfer or sell your email address. Third-party information gathering The Centico Research surveys website contains links to other sites on the Web. Centico Research reserves the right to verify your identity to our satisfaction, including by asking you to log into your account if you have one.

You are entitled to receive the following:

  • The categories of your personal information that Centico Research has collected in the preceding 12 months

  • The categories of sources from which that information was collected

  • The business/commercial purpose for the collection or selling

  • The categories of third parties with whom Centico Research shares personal information

As per EU regulation your privacy rights under the Data Protection Act and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
GDPR lays out the lawful basis for which processing personal data can be legally carried out. Our legal basis for processing personal information is agreed with our clients beforehand which enables Centico to carry out market research, this is normally either legitimate interest of our client (the data controller) or by the use of consent. In certain cases, another basis would be used where we may undertake research for a public authority, the lawful basis would be public interest. In all cases this would be clearly defined, and you would be informed of which basis is applicable, you can also find out more from the website.

The security of any information we hold about you and how we use your information is explained below.

Selling

If you take part in a survey, we will never attempt to sell you anything, nor would we ever pass on your details to a third party. We are simply collecting information to aid our client in improving service standards and/or to gain an insight into your views.

Confidentiality

We will treat all responses that you give with the utmost confidentiality, in some situations we may ask you if you would like your responses to be attributed to you specifically (this is normally to help the client respond or address any of responses where necessary) where this maybe the case we will only do this with your consent, you also have the right to refuse this option.
At no point will any of the information that you have provided be utilized for any other purpose other than that of research. You should not incur any charges for taking part in a survey and all responses are gathered in adherence with the ESOMAR – Code of Conduct

Children

We will always gain prior parental consent before conduct any surveys with children Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act and the new General Data Protection Regulation, you have the following rights;

  • The right to access data

  • The right to withdraw consent

  • The right to object to the processing

  • To restrict processing

  • To port data (if automated collection)

  • To rectify data held

  • To erasure of any personal data made public

Where you ask us to restrict processing – to not participate in the survey and not be contacted again, we would need to retain your telephone number or email address to ensure that you are never contacted again. No other identifying information is ever stored within this suppression list.

Transfer of data

  • We will never transfer your data to a third-party without informing you or gaining your consent to do so

  • We will not transfer your information outside of the UK

Security of Information

We have taken appropriate and stringent measures to ensure the security of our systems, services and to protect the integrity and accuracy of information processed or stored within those systems.
We only allow authorized employees to access specific data and always operate a least privilege policy. We use the strongest encryption methodologies to further protect information and reduce any risks with handling, thus ensuring that sufficient safeguards are in place.
